This beautiful, powerful story will help children and adults alike understand that animals do have similar emotions to the ones that we feel. The book tells the story of Tahlequah, an Orca whose daughter died shortly after being born because she lacked enough blubber to stay afloat. With the help of other members of her pod, Tahlequah carried her daughter's body on her head for 17 days.
Through Tahlequah's story, readers also learn the importance of caring for the planet, including the oceans. Animals like orcas are suffering because of pollution and overfishing. It is imperative that humans become more mindful of the results of our actions.
