 Excerpt

Hands of the Clock

Beloved, when I'm with you

the hands of the clock tremble.

Your beauty stuns them

and their raison d'etre disappears through a crack in time

like the intoxicated bee whose ecstatic nectar-drinking

made him forget to fly before the lotus blossom closed for the evening.

I too am in No Man’s Land after tasting you.

Like the hands of the clock, your beauty has stopped a thing within me.

I only seem fit to write rogue love poems

and sing tavern songs of intoxication and wonder.

Please give me another job

because, like the clock hands, my own raison d'etre

seems lost in the crack between waking and dream,

that majestic ocean of silence

stretching past infinity—

holding a silly bubble afloat

until it is no more.

Indiscernible Elements Calcium Book Blitz and Giveaway #rabtbooktours

Arts & Photography, Nonfiction (Adult), Reference

Date Published: May 30, 2023

Publisher: The Black Hat Press

i am in your teeth, your bones, you r nails. i help your muscles contract. i help your heart beat. you need me. I am in every brick in the colosseum and in the walls of caves. I am in soil, sand, and statues. every living thing requires me to function. when the living die, when a building crumbles, i will continue on. i have many jobs, i live many lives. you call me Calcium.

indiscernible elements: Calcium explores the path a molecule can take through various stages of life and death - from the perspective of Calcium itself. through the use of detailed illustrations, poetry, and dialogue, author Korynn Newville creates a discussion around how humans can change the way they create the built environment to be more conscious of the wondrous systems at work in nature. if the same Calcium in a femur bone can be used in concrete to build a cathedral, a house, a sidewalk or can be recycled by a nearby plant or tree, how can humans purposefully help that process along? what would Calcium design if it had the choice? what would Calcium say if it could tell you its story.

I received Spread Your Wings and Fly and The Beauty of Black Mermaids. I don't think of these books as review copies but as wonderful gifts! I am nearly 60 years old and live with sometimes severe anxiety as well as multiple health issues. I think that coloring is a fun and relaxing activity for people of all ages and I am looking forward to making these new gifts my own.

The images are appropriate for all ages. Teens, adults, and older kids will enjoy coloring the intricate details for beautiful contrast and shading. I have a set of colored pencils but I'm thinking it might be fun to buy a set of sparkly pens or maybe even the big 64 crayon set--the one with the sharpener built into the box-- and let myself be young again for an hour or two.

I absolutely recommend these beautiful coloring books to anybody of any age who enjoys art projects for therapeutic reasons or just having fun. The Fantasy in Black series earns five out of five stars.
