“Can you tell me your name?” she asked quietly while checking his blood pressure again.
“Trenton Shade,” he replied in a barely audible voice. His gaze darted around the cabin interior. “Where are we?”
“I don’t know.”
He eyed her skeptically. She practically melted off the chair from the intensity in those dark pools of intrigue fringed by long black lashes. Rage simmered in their depths. She saw no fear, only determination. Despite the angry way he stared at her, she couldn’t help but fall into his potent allure. A powerful aura emanated from him.
She longed to set him free.
A familiar clicking sound drew her attention toward the beds. Joan sat on the top bunk, her legs dangling off the edge and a shotgun in her hands.
“Don’t get any foolish ideas,” she growled at Camille, then pumped the gun once to load the chamber. “I’m not above getting rid of you.”
She shivered with fear. I can’t believe these two passed a background check to get hired. Why me? Why’d they target me? Of all the nurses on staff, how did I catch their eye? That tow chain holding him in place may as well be wrapped around her as well. Because neither of them was getting out unless someone paid.
