This
wasn’t a situation where I didn’t know him. I knew his name,
Mason. He was deploying the next day and we had mutual friends so…
I knew him. But I didn’t know him at all.
Then
the letters started. He agreed. I agreed. It was a done deal. Pen
pals and in the old school way.
I
wasn’t prepared.
The
texture of the paper. His words. The ink. He touched what I was
holding. The magic. It was a window into his soul.
Until,
he’s hurt. Until, he comes back. Until, everything changes. Mason
needs to decide if he’ll let me in or push me away because I
already knew.
I’d
fallen in love with my pen pal, but will he love me back?

If you are looking for an easy-to-read romance with character development that draws you into the story and won't let go, this novella delivers. For those who like it steamy, the story doesn't disappoint. However, I was pleased that the focus was on the emotions of the characters rather than on the sex.
During their one-night stand after a party, Paige learned that he had nobody to write to him, so she agreed to be his pen pal. When Mason stops writing for a time and then writes from a rehab center in Georgia, Paige is concerned. I was concerned too, thanks to the author's ability to create sympathetic characters.
Readers will either empathize or laugh when I say that I wanted to cut in on Paige and Mason's date, not because I wanted to get in on the romance but because I haven't been to the kind of restaurant where one orders appetizers in years. The last person I went to such a restaurant with was my mother, who frowns on ordering appetizers. More than anything, this probably means that I shouldn't write reviews before I've had breakfast.
All kidding aside, this is a lovely, romantic little book that doesn't take long to read. The brevity of the book ensures that the story doesn't bog down in unnecessary detail. I give Saving Mason five out of five stars.
