As evening fell, the elite bloodsuckers converged on the towering cathedral in the city center, wondering what delight the coven elders had procured for them to feast upon. Perhaps it would be some sad sack with a disability tricked into believing that his or her time to shine had come at last. Those were always fun. Last week it had been a fat, ugly old lame woman believing she was receiving accolades for her collections of maudlin poetry and purple prose. The devastation as she realized she had been betrayed overrode her terror as fangs and claws tore her flesh.
