The First Line/Book Beginnings

The body hanging from the ceiling began to writhe, straining against the inside of the translucent, teardrop-shaped sac in which it was encased.

The Friday 56

"You look...concerned." He started to back away. "You know what, never mind. It was a stupid--"

3rd - 9th - What was your favorite genre to read as a child? Do you still read that genre, or do you read something else now? (submitted by Mark @ Carstairs Considers)

I still read multiple genres. I do read more nonfiction now than I did when I was younger. Part of the reason for this is that I write fiction, so I want to read something else.

The First Line/Book Beginnings

With my nose pressed against the living room bay window, I peered between the wooden slats adhered to the outside, eager to see a glimpse of that white truck.

The Friday 56

We both knew there was nothing that could be done now. Even though I had yet to glimpse the telltale symptom, the one thing that would confirm it wasn’t just a terrible cold.

Maxwell had not come to St. Croix Light because he dreamed of the grandeur of isolation and all the mind can achieve when left to its own capacities.

The Friday 56

Somewhere in the constant din of raindrops and howling wind, a metallic clang woke Maxwell.

3rd - 9th - Have you ever read a Western? If so, do you enjoy the genre? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

I do like Westerns. My introduction to them was actually the Little House on the Prairie book series. I think the first Western I read was a novelization of High Chaparral, but I hope you'll forgive me if that isn't correct, because it has been more than 55 years.

Currently, I live in a literal ghost town on the northeastern Colorado plains. There are some 130 living people sprinkled among the ghosts. I write about my town sometimes on my poetry blog at http://poetryofthenetherworld.blogspot.com

LOOK OUT BELOW!
