The First Line

(From the Foreward by Tommy Ramone)

Monte A Melnick was the first friend I made when I moved to Forest Hills. I bumped into him while riding my bike around Forest Hills High School. He was living right next door to the school and he, too, was riding his bike. The first thing I noticed about him was his curious alliterative name. The second was his big, brown, sad eyes that looked at me with a combination of curiosity, fascination and competition.

Ed Stasium: When they did the It’s Alive recording at the Rainbow Theatre in London on New Year’s Eve in ‘77, Elton John came to the party dressed all crazed out in his gay Nazi biker drag uniform. He had a German eagle SS pendant and a pound of cocaine in his hip pocket and was giving everybody bumps of coke from this thing he had around his neck. So I snorted cocaine with Elton. He actually held the thing as I snorted it. It was a big highlight of my life. I was a huge Elton John fan. I thought, ‘Holy Toledo, I’m snorting cocaine with Elton John!’

9th - 15th - Have you taken a look at the website and app Litsy? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver's Reviews)

I did just now. It seems similar to Goodreads. It doesn't look bad, but I don't really have time for one more thing. I hardly ever use my Goodreads account as it is.

This post is sponsored by Thriftbooks. Find great bargains on used paperback and hardcover books. It's my favorite online used bookstore and it may become yours too. Just follow the link!
